2 Ways To Prepare For A Towing Emergency

Rose Perkins

When your car breaks down on the side of the road, you want to make sure you are prepared. That's not the time to try to be figuring out what you need to do. Making a plan ahead of time will keep you safer while you are waiting.

Have a Towing Company's Number

Have a number for a local towing company already programmed into your phone. Or you can keep the number with your car's registration and insurance. That way you aren't searching for a company. You can just pull out that information and make the necessary call. If you are on a road trip, do a little research and find numbers for the areas you are going to be in and get local numbers for those areas. If you have a membership to a roadside assistance club, make sure that you have any national phone number as well as local numbers. A towing company like Standish Towing & Recovery Ltd offers 24-hour service, but not all companies do, so make sure to have the numbers of companies that can help you at any time.

Make Yourself Visible

Ideally, you have a safety kit in your car. That kit should include things like reflective triangles, road flares, and a pennant for your car. The triangles are little signs that you can stand up behind your car. They will catch the light of oncoming cars, especially at night, and warn them something is on the side of the road. Start putting them several yards behind your car. You want to give other drivers as much warning as possible. They also work well in the daylight since they are orange and can catch a driver's attention. Flares work the same way and should also be placed some distance from your car. Never place a flare right next to your car; it is a safety hazard. If you have a reflective pennant, tie that onto your car's antenna. You can also have a plain white sheet or strip of material, and place that on your car. White can be seen from some distance and can draw more attention to your car. You should always have your emergency blinkers on as well.

Breaking down at the side of the road can be a scary experience. If you have thought out all the contingencies ahead of time, you can just put your plan into action. That way you have no reason to be scared or worried, and the only thing stressing you out is trying to figure out what is wrong with your car.

About Me
Talking About Tow Services

Hi there, I'm Isaac Johnson. I created this site to share my experiences with local towing services. I often pick up broken down cars and have them transported to my home on a flatbed truck. During these excursions, I talk with the tow truck drivers about their equipment and services. I would like to share information about the different types of tow trucks used to move disabled vehicles from place to place. I also want to talk about the techniques used to hook up and transport the car. Please visit my site anytime to discuss this topic in more detail. Thank you for visiting my website.
