3 Items You Don't Want to Leave Inside Your Vehicle Being Towed

Rose Perkins

Being stranded on the side of the road isn't exactly the most pleasant experience. You end up having to sit and wait for the tow truck to arrive to get your vehicle safely to the repair facility. As you sit there and wait, there are a few things you can do to pass the time. One of those things is to gather items that you are going to need later on during the claim process. Here are three items you don't want to leave in your vehicle when it gets towed.

Proof of Insurance

The first thing you want to grab is your proof of insurance. You will need to call the insurance company right away to report the claim and get reimbursed for the towing. Your proof of insurance will have a phone number on it and your insurance policy. This saves you from having to fumble around for the claims number and your insurance policy number.

Registration

While you might not necessarily need your proof of registration, it is a good idea to have it with you just in case. This proves ownership of the vehicle and that your tabs are current and in compliance with the law. It's worth taking it out and having it with your proof of insurance in case you ever need it.

Personal Effects

Make sure you take your purse, work items and any other personal belongings you are going to need. You don't want to end up leaving your purse, garage door opener, groceries, work papers or other belongings in the vehicle that you are going to end up needing later on that day. While this might be a pain if you just went grocery shopping, you don't want all of your food and money to go to waste because you left it in the vehicle.

By taking these three items with you, it will help speed things up when making phone calls to your insurance company. It also helps you pass the time as you sit there and wait. By the time you have all of your personal effects together, there is a good chance that the towing company will be there and ready to pick you up. If you are ever unsure whether you should take something with you or not, take it with you, just in case. It is better to take it with you than to have to go back and get it later on down the road.

If you've been in an accident, call your insurance company right away and a towing service, such as TNT Towing and Salvage Disposal.

Talking About Tow Services

Hi there, I'm Isaac Johnson. I created this site to share my experiences with local towing services. I often pick up broken down cars and have them transported to my home on a flatbed truck. During these excursions, I talk with the tow truck drivers about their equipment and services. I would like to share information about the different types of tow trucks used to move disabled vehicles from place to place. I also want to talk about the techniques used to hook up and transport the car. Please visit my site anytime to discuss this topic in more detail. Thank you for visiting my website.
