Take These Items In Your Car To Prepare For Unforeseen Camping Trip Emergencies

Rose Perkins

If you have decided to take your family camping in a rural wilderness area this summer, then it is important that you take some time to prepare for possible emergencies you might encounter along the way. While there are tow trucks available in nearly any area, sometimes you may need to hike for days before you can get cell service to call them or wait for snow to be plowed until they can reach you. To prepare for possible emergencies, take along each of these important items:

Road Flares

If you are involved in an automobile accident or break down in a place on the road without much shoulder space, then you need to have road flares to warn other drivers. You should carry at least a handful of flares so you can place them around your car and on the roadway leading to your location. The flares will serve as a warning to passersby and can stop a secondary accident from happening.

Snow Chains

Every time you drive up in the mountains you should always carry snow chains that fit your car's tires. In fact, most mountain areas have laws on the books that require that you do so. Carrying snow chains allows you to get out of an area if you wake up in the morning and find a foot of snow has fallen the night before. Without chains in your vehicle, you may be stuck in place until the snow melts and you can drive out.

Bottles of Antifreeze, Engine Oil, Transmission Fluid, and Windshield Washing Fluid

Simple things like a bottle of extra engine oil, antifreeze, or transmission fluid can be used in an emergency to keep your car on the road until you get back to pavement and can call a tow truck. If your car runs out of any of these fluids due to a leak, then you can ruin your car's mechanical parts. However, even one bottle of the right fluid or oil will allow you to drive the few miles necessary to get to safety. Additionally, since remote driving is hard on your windshield due to bugs and mud, it's always nice to have a bottle of cleaning fluid along in your vehicle.

Comfort Items for Your Family Members

Finally, it is also vital that you carry comfort items for all of your family members. Pack extra jackets, blankets, food, and ample drinking water. In addition, throw in a deck or two of playing cards into your comfort items box to help stave off boredom if you have to wait in the wilderness for rescue.

To stay on the safe side, always keep the number of a towing services company in your phone.

About Me
Talking About Tow Services

Hi there, I'm Isaac Johnson. I created this site to share my experiences with local towing services. I often pick up broken down cars and have them transported to my home on a flatbed truck. During these excursions, I talk with the tow truck drivers about their equipment and services. I would like to share information about the different types of tow trucks used to move disabled vehicles from place to place. I also want to talk about the techniques used to hook up and transport the car. Please visit my site anytime to discuss this topic in more detail. Thank you for visiting my website.
